About Our Parish
St. Bartholomew Catholic Church is more than a building or a collection of buildings. We are a community joined together by Jesus Christ. Our ministries and outreach programs demonstrate the many different ways that we share our faith and grow in the love Christ calls us to live.

St. Bartholomew Church is located on the NW corner of University Drive and Miramar Parkway in Miramar, Florida. The grounds consist of a Church, Parochial School, Parish Hall, Sacred Heart Conference and Retreat Center, Rectory and athletic fields. For directions, please visit the map link below.

Welcome from our Pastor
May the grace and peace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, abound in your hearts!

Our St. Bartholomew Parish community warmly welcomes you and is very happy that you are now part of our family. We hope that once you have made friends with your brothers and sisters in Christ and are familiar with the many branches of our family: the various ministries, you will become a member of one or more of them, thereby allowing us to experience, and you to share, your wonderful gifts and talents.
We are a multi-ethnic community, bonded as brothers and sisters by our communion with Christ, and our desire to serve Him, especially in reaching out to the poor, the lowly, and the downtrodden.     We are also part of the larger family of the Archdiocese of Miami, to whom we look for leadership and guidance.
We believe that through the preaching of the Good News of Jesus Christ, and the promotion its values, we can transform our society, which sad to say, has turned its back to God and have forgotten the many blessing that He has bestowed on us.
We have no doubt that through perseverance, prayer and the power of the Holy Spirit, we can build the society of peace and justice, the Kingdom of God (on Earth), that Christ has entrusted to us to bring to its fullness.
May the words of Saint Paul, the great evangelizer, encourage you as they have encouraged us: "I have the strength for everything through Him who empowers me" Philippians 4:13

Once again, welcome our family!
Sincerely yours in Christ, Father Andrew Chan-A-Sue

Parish Registration
Interested in joining our Parish? As our parish faith life grows and develops, we are happy to welcome those who wish to register as new members of our parish family. Simply stop by the rectory to pick up registration forms and information. Once a month after the 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass, a special program, FRIENDSHIP SUNDAY, welcomes new parishioners to our community. Over coffee and cake we introduce them to our parish and offer them many different opportunities to become involved in the myriad of programs and ministries that St. Bartholomew supports. Friendship Sunday is sponsored by the parish Stewardship Committee. Call the rectory office for the next date.
Parish History
St. Bartholomew Parish, like our Lord himself, had a humble beginning. It was born in the Miramar fire house on August 16, 1962. In those days, the town of Miramar was hardly developed west of University Drive. Today, there are over 2000 registered families, there is a parochial school which educates about 300 students from pre-kindergarten through the eighth grade, and there is a robust religious education program that serves the needs of over an additional 450 students.

History of our Patron Saint, St. Bartholomew
What is known for certain about Saint Bartholomew can be found in the Scriptures. He is one of the 12 apostles. His name, a patronymic, means "son of Tolomai" and scholars believe he is the same person as Nathanael mentioned in John, who says he is from Cana and that Jesus called him an "Israelite . . . incapable of deceit."

The Art and Beauty of St. Bartholomew Church
Stained glass windows add beauty to a church, while also adding an element of mystery. Our windows embody messages of faith that speak to God's presence among us. Stained glass windows were added to St. Bartholomew in different stages beginning with the major church renovation in the nineties through 2001 when the bell tower and covered walkways were added. Here you can find a window-by-window description of the images and learn about other artwork adorning the Church such as the Fisherman Sculpture.
