Stewardship
"What can I return to the Lord for all his goodness to me?" Psalm 116:12
Stewardship is a way of living each day in gratitude for all the blessings that God has given to us. We do not own the gifts God gives to us. We are only here on earth to use those gifts to do God's work. Sharing our gifts and returning them to God means giving generously of our time, talent and treasure.
The roots of stewardship can be found in the Bible, which tells us over and over that God is the Creator and Giver of all gifts. It is our responsibility to show our gratitude to God for these gifts, by giving back to Him a truly grateful share. We give to God by sharing with our Church and with those in need.
We are to serve more than be served. We use our time, talent and treasure in service to Christ and others.
Sacrificial giving is our way of life based on the example of Christ's sacrifice for us. Our need to give is more important than the Church's need to receive.
"Sacrificial Giving: Give God what is RIGHT- not what is left"
A Christian steward is one who:
- Receives God's gifts gratefully
- Cherishes and tends them responsibly
- Shares them in justice and love
- Returns them with increase to the Lord

How can I be a steward of my financial resources?
God has blessed you with talents that allow you to work and earn financial resources that pays for many necessities such as food, shelter and clothing. Do you show your appreciation for these wonderful and powerful blessings by returning a generous portion? Our Biblical roots describe the response of God's chosen people to His goodness as a return of 10%. This tradition of returning 10% of God's bounty has been followed through time.
TREASURE. The cash value of two hours of my weekly salary or $1.00 a week for each $1,000 of my annual income or 5% to my parish and 5% to other charity, reflecting the 10% biblical tithe.
TIME AND TALENT. In addition to your hour of worship, how can you give another hour to the Lord? What call to service does the Lord lay on your heart? What ministry draws your interest? Ministry at liturgy or in education? Service organizations or helping the sick or needy? A particular culture or age group?
"Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you." Luke 7:38
